Asyst EIB Software Delivers on the Promise of Distributed Equipment Data-on-Demand Thursday July 8, 6:00 am ET
FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 2004--As part of its continuing strategy to deliver comprehensive productivity enhancement solutions for advanced manufacturing processes, Asyst Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ASYT - News) today announced the launch of Asyst EIB(TM) (Equipment Information Bridge), a software technology that provides real-time access to active streams of distributed equipment information. Asyst EIB delivers the core functionality for a new category of just-released and future software products that address the need for equipment "data on demand," and is the first fully functional solution complying with the new Interface A and Equipment Data Acquisition (EDA) industry standards. Asyst's EIB enables a distributed equipment environment in which the data streams from various active tools and equipment are interconnected and interactive, at the operational event level as well as the end-user controller level. This provides real-time visibility into critical processes and the intelligence necessary to automate control systems, reduce process variation and improve quality. The EIB technology is designed to be both flexible and adaptable, and can be applied across multiple industries, including semiconductor and flat panel display manufacturing.
Paula LuPriore, vice president and general manager, connectivity solutions, for Asyst, said, "Data access is becoming critical to meeting OFE and OEE objectives as wafer size increases and technology nodes decrease. The need for data on demand has been validated by current standards and by International SEMATECH e-Manufacturing initiatives. As the leader in equipment connectivity and with significant input from our users, Asyst is addressing these demands with the EIB family of software products, which we believe provides the highest performance connectivity platform available."
EIB technology has been implemented per SEMI standard E120 (Common Equipment Model), E125, E132 & E134, and follows XML guidelines as established by SEMI E121 and E128.
Further increasing its ease of implementation, a powerful EIB Model Builder application allows Asyst EIB customers to easily create, update and extend equipment models, providing another advantage that leads to decreased time to market, minimized risk of errors, and reduced internal development costs. To support several inter- and intra-industry EIB initiatives, Asyst will also offer an EIB Developer Program and an expanded EIB Beta Site Program.
