Invading Iraq wasn't to stop a transfer of WMD if it already occurred. First it discovers once and for all what he has or doesn't have. Does he have Mustard? Does he have VX? Does he have Bioweapons? Does he have Sarin. Does he have centrifuges? Does he have enriched uranium? Is he manufacturing Plutonium? How much does he have? Are there any records or where this stuff has been transferred. Can we track it down and destroy it? If we can't track it down but no it exists do we need to implement drastic border security safeguards? Do we need to turn away all foreign shipping? Well post invasion we can rest a lot more comfortably because we know there were not major stockpiles or major WMD programs ongoing. We accomplished in a year what 12 years of bumbling UN inspectors could never accomplish given even another 15 years. Why should I or anybody be forced to live in fear from a two bit Arab tyrrant? I've been afraid of that guy since the 1980s. We're not out of the woods yet but 300 million Americans can rest more comfortably because if WMD were trasferred there is probably a good chance we would have seen an attack already somewhere in the world.
