Everytime Bush, Rummy, or Shady Dick get asked about American troop strength, they chant the same mantra. As the verse goes, everything is rosy in terms of military strength, and if the generals asked for more help, we'd give it to them. But a 4 star general, testifying before Congress yesterday says our forces are stretched too thin.

story.news.yahoo.com

By failing to follow the doctrine of "overwhelming force", Bush has condemned thosands of soldiers to death and dismemberment. Over a year after the initial invasion of Iraq the military situation is actually deteriorating(5 more GI's KIA today).

But to change course now is to admit misjudgement, and this is something that Bush refuses to do, in this most political of seasons. For Bush, being re-elected is far more important than soldier's lives.
