the really important thing about Kerry choosing Edwards, which has not been discussed here yet, is that it shows that Kerry is willing to create a team with the best people he can find (this was the Clinton approach also) as opposed to Bush's leadership which consists of a cabinet of mediocre yes-men. Bush never chooses anybody to work with that doesn't share his ideology completely. (we know Kerry and Edwards don't agree on trade policy for example)

I have read reports that Kerry and Edwards had a cool relationship prior to the VP announce, probably due to the primaries. Kerry set that aside. I'm sure Kerry knows he has a problem with charisma and Edwards has the potential to upstage him a little on the stump
