Ten, serious post
re: At least with Rush, he's not trying to sell his "anti-Europe" message to Europeans. Moore, of course, is selling his "anti-America" message to Americans, because of course self-loathing is becoming a bigger part of our culture these days.
I agree and disagree, heartily. Self-criticism is a key, maybe the key, part of Democracy. We've talked about checks and balances this evening; what's that worth if the people don't review their government policy with a very critical eye?
My perception is that a very small group of radical ideologs have managed to take control of our foreign policy, and the ultimate results will be devastating to our country. I'm not a person that usually gets involved in politics; I'm a political agnostic. I think the Dems and the Reps are basically the same entity.
But I am one fairly experienced, slightly old, hopefully fairly wise SOB. And I am scared to death of Bush and his cohorts. I've been living in America for 55 years; I've never seen anything like this, from a fundamental value perspective.
I don't care about Rush or Moore, they are landscape for what is happening. The KEY QUESTION, I think, is America going to be the example to the world, or the dictator to the world. And I think the latter has never worked in world history, while the former has been working VERY well since WW2.
It's an amazing choice that we have in this election, that's why I'm REALLY involved, more than ever before. It's the future of the country, and the world.
This is not your ordinary election.
