After bush mccain we get mccain powell or after bush-powell we get powell mccain. Something we can agree on.

Only that it won't happen. The social conservatives in the Rep party will never stand for McCain or Powell on the ticket, whether as vp or as p. And, should they by some odd quirk of fate, make it, those same social conservatives would stay away from voting in the general election.

Ditto for Guiliani.

The Republican Party is lock, stock, and barrel owned by the social conservatives. The moderate face is only a face. That's why their convention will be interesting. Unlike previous conventions and the Dem one this time in which there are attempts to keep the folk on the edges of the party out of prominence, the Reps are keeping the very center of the party out of prominence.

Twill be interesting to see if the media does anything with this.
