JF, personally I think the "neocon" era in the Bush administration already died in late 2003. It's part realism based on what I think Bush has been doing these days, and it's part wishful thinking, I admit. Of course, Bush could have done more to change things after realizing that our intelligence was off the mark, but given his style of administrating, I doubt we're going to see anything drastic.
In any case, I share your view that the Dems and the Reps are basically the same entity, and that their differences amount to not much more than the difference between chocolate and vanilla to an ice cream affectionado. As for this election, it really isn't that big of a deal to me. To you, Bush may be the worst president of your lifetime, but to me, that honor belongs to Clinton. And it's not just because the Lewinsky scandal finally pushed me over to the right from the middle. It's also because he was probably the biggest do-nothing president I've ever seen, someone who takes the fortunate events that happened during his term and claims them as his own accomplishments.
Meanwhile, I see the "Anyone But Bush" guy as nothing more than a Gray Davis-like politician, and that's why I won't be voting for him.
