Yea, that's a Divi-system price. But this one shakes and bakes. Low end is about $1500, even from IBM. If they sell it with less code, and get it to volume, its price will drop by more than 1/2. They need to be sub $300 by the time Sony, NEC and LSI are ready.

I wonder how far along the E4 engineers are on the next generation?

Since they are producing it in volume in Q4, Cube's encoder revenues will slow just at the time of year when VCD and DVD will peak. Who knows, revenues may rise in the 2nd Q, 1998. That would be different.
