India is already in a big soup due to the nuclear armed rival in Pakistan. Additional nuke or two will harden the Indian attitude and cause more tests on the part of India and an escalated arms race.

BTW: India is getting better and better at indegenously producing arms. While Indians generally are proud of their achievements (in this field also), in the long run this will development will diminish US role, influence AND power in the region substantially with having regional powers like India and Pakistan. So this is NOT good for us (as in US). Add to that other countries in the region will scale up their own arms race.

EDIT: Nuclear weapons in Pakistan is also built with US as a potential adversary. India is not for off from ICBM and Pakistan will not be either. How can you say it is not going to be a problem for US ?
