Did any Republicans plan 4th of July "ceremonies" the last four years? Why not? *thinking, thinking*

There have been "celebrations" of various sorts. Those are routine. You can be sure there have been many speeches over the year in honor of our Independence and in honor of our veterans and service people, too. There has evidently been no Republican or Democratic proposal for a "ceremony" until this (election) year, when they chose a guy with a list of Democrats (only Democrats) he thinks are treasonous. Was it partisan ploy? Try to figure this one out.

Did the Republications propose inviting as the speaker to this July 4 ceremony someone who wasn't on record calling the Democratic candidate a traitor? There were thousands of people both sides could have agreed would have conducted a beautiful, meaningful observance of our Independence, honoring our military heroes (among which Dubya isn't included, btw, though Kerry is). They chose this guy. Really. Try to figure out why this was. You can do it.
