I guess I did not make myself clear either. Here is what I intended to say: As a user of NT, you seem to be using it NOT for "mission-critical applications" (you mention a NT server at home, etc.) But you opine that NT is possible to be used for mission-critical applications (without possibly being an actual user of NT for mission-critical app., this is just your belief, since you haven't seen it crash very often in your environment, except under some circumstances, as well as having some other limitations like installation of new software requiring re-boot, scalability, etc.). This is arguably the opinion of one user, who is not a mission-critical applications user -> I assume, which is what I was trying to understand about YOUR usage earlier (and not what you believe NT can handle).
On the other hand, the Standish report specifically talks about having interviewed ACTUAL users of such applications, and have reported their findings. Unless you choose to state that you do not hold their research as valid, (as you suggested earlier in that the truth is somewhere in between), in which case your stand is somewhat like Microsoft's.
The reason I am being particular about all this is for two reasons: one, to make it clear what mission-critical means, which is above 99.95% uptime and nothing less. Two, to understand exactly where NT stands today (not being a user myself).
