however we do know
the articulated reason for the Democrats' refusal
to allow him to speak---they don't like his politics.

You presented an interpretation and distortion and described it as "the articulated reason." How dishonest. You ought to become a lawyer.

These are the only "articulations" by Democrats quoted: "problems have arisen both with regards to the spirit, content and participation of various individuals with regard to the ceremony" and "...separation of church and state."

I think that since Denton's "politics" consist of accusing the Democratic candidate (and a bunch of other Democrats) of treason, and extremist positions on religion, perhaps the choice by the Republicans of him as a speaker had nothing whatever to do with celebrating Independence Day. duh.

Where is his speech? If the text of it had been made public by the Republicans, perhaps we would be in a better position to judge whether the invitation to him was a cheap political ploy. Please post it. I'm sure the Republicans are proud of it and have published it. Where, though?

If a Democrat suggested a talk by Wesley Clark along with a screening of Fahrenheit 9/11 as a celebration of July 4, and the Republicans objected, would you say, "It is politics! It is insufficient reason to deny someone the podium to celebrate the 4th of July!"

Would you?
