As for your reference to Wesley Clark. Didn't you change
it to Clark from Moore after you read my response?
If I am incorrect about that, I apologize in advance.

I changed nothing. Your apology is noted and accepted.

Lorne has just posted a link that confirmed my impression of the reasons the Democrats objected to Denton as a July 4 speaker. It provides all you need to answer this exceedingly uncomplex hypothetical -- but in fact, you need nothing more than the question itself, it stands alone:

Simple Question for mph:

If the Democrats proposed Wesley Clark to give the talk, and screened F.9/11 at the ceremony or immediately after at a celebration of the occasion of July 4 this election year, would you think Republicans would have a right to insist that this was inappropriate, and that a more non-partisan, undivisive Independence Day celebration day should be designed?

It's a simple question, and nothing about Denton is needed for you to answer it. I can answer it now: The Republicans would have good cause to object and ask for input into the July 4 program.

Here is some detail located by lorne.
