Why I think Java has a broad future? 1) Unbelievably great language to program in (Microsoft's position, but they stop at this one) 2) Only internet-ready language with safety built into the design. BTW, for the non-programmers out there: security and debugging and two sides of the same coin. Many of the features that make Java programs safe to run on your machine are the same features that make it an easy language to program in. 3) Cross platform capability. It's real. Check out www4.zdnet.com 4) Being pushed by just about everyone except Microsoft.
