Tooearly, ... perhaps because 7 very expensive carriers will be insufficient in a firefight against a mishmesh of disposable surface combatants with Russian outsourced welcoming buzz bombs.

sinodefence.com
freerepublic.com
softwar.net and

... at USD 20 million a buzz, a lot of these can be mounted on small ships, atolls, submerged launch tubes, ... and when China can make own Sunburns, in say about 24 months max, the cost will drop substantially, and will no doubt be fitted with better electronics courtesy of NYSE listed Sony, Intel, AMD, TSCM, etc

... so, no, 7 carriers will not do.

The days of carriers may be numbered if not already over in connection with a fundamentally continental power with a gazillion little ships and 100 Sunburns, backed by a mere 300 continental nukes and a fist full of T-bills.

A strutting carrier display at this moment will merely serve to irritate, and encourage greater preparation activities, make Taiwan less safe.

The NMD initiative is a very expensive but not practical effort to maintain the edge, which will likely exhaust the treasury and do nothing else, or be aborted when the technical truth is clear.

My guess is that the days of even contemplating war between the US and China will be soon over.

Taiwan? gushing out talents, money, factories, and soon, nothing much left except a bunch of farmers wishing for independence, which simply cannot be due to "just is".

Chugs, Jay
