<<Just as to Russia where a lot of US money has gone to help stabilize matters (and to line the pockets of its leaders), so too a lot of US money will go to Iraq.>>
The billions went to Russia leaders who in exchange hired so called "consultants" from the countries of the west, mostly US. I don't have to add that the fees received by these called consultants for their "services" were on average equal to 50% of money which went to Russia. I don't think anywhere in the world crimes in the form of bribes taken by the elected politicians from the western corporations are more exposed and documented than in Poland. This country has one of the most free press and media in the world, cases below 10 million dollars are not worth to write about. This is done in open and the accused on many occasion have the one answer to the media - write about and do something about it if you can. Japanese foreign minister visiting this country at the end of his tour said in TV interview that he understands corporations in all parts of the globe either giving bribes or taking them, but after deal is done both sides stick to the agreement. Well, is not so so in this part of the globe which came out freshly out of the dominance of USSR. In the countries where the democracy is fresh or was prohibited for longer time, it's a heaven for all powers because takes so little to bribe. On the papers actual amounts of funds are huge but only small portion stays over there. Consultants, international law firm knows exactly how to pump these money back where they came from, not in every case, taxpayers never seen their money back unless they are in the highest bracket, then their benfits are often doubled. bushies are accusing Saddam of stealing millions, but they will be stealing hundreds of billions over the next years unless Al-Sadr will be elected next president, and his chances are growing. Of course US will have to intervene again with the coalition of the willing to protect Sunni minority this time. Only effective resistance to the occupants combined with blowing up oil infrastructure, and stirring up other oil Muslim states can guarantee future prosperity for the people of the region. OIl could be @ $15 dollars a barrel but that's enough for the people of the region to enjoy quality life, as long as the don't have drunken pigs in power like in the case of Saudi. |
