How can it be racist? Middle Easterners don't have any particular race. Some are very dark, some very fair, and everything in between.

If so, it may well be something that people from the Middle East - you, perhaps? - understand, and accept, but apparently don't realize that it isn't socially acceptable here.
Westerners, on the other hand, don't understand it, and maybe are not even aware of it, because they'd don't deal with competing versions of truth like lawyers and judges do.
Now that the truth is coming out about Chalabi and his organization misrepresenting the truth and manipulating the testimony of various Iraqi defectors, I think the cultural differences in the way facts are presented is relevant to the debate.
I hope you are not denying that the concept of taqqiya (secrecy, dissimulation) is considered acceptable by Shias and/or Jafaris? Are there similar concepts practiced by non-Shias? |
