You would be borrowing the stock and repaying it at a (hopefully) lower price.
Ex.-Say I went "short" INTC by borrowing the shares at $100per. I could have bought the stock back this a.m. for 90-91 (not sure where INTC ended), repayed what I borrowed with the cheaper shares, and pocketed the diff. ($9-10)

Hope that's what you were asking.

The scenario you described would be called "scalping". (buying and selling the same day for a small profit)
