TVI Corporation Receives Government Approval and $500,000 Order for Powered Air Respirators
Monday July 12, 7:30 am ET

GLENN DALE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2004--TVI Corporation (OTCBB:TVIN - News), a leading supplier of rapid deployment shelters and chemical/biological decontamination systems for the military, public health and first response agencies, today announced that it has received approval for its Tornado Powered Air Respirator Program from The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and received an order for $500,000 from a major supplier of first responder equipment.

The Tornado Powered Air Respirator Program was produced for personal protection of first responders performing decontamination work.

"We are pleased to receive regulatory approval for Tornado, which was made possible from the resources acquired in the CAPA acquisition," stated Rick Priddy, President and CEO of TVI Corporation. "The acquisition of CAPA Manufacturing was completed in April of 2004 and highlights our commitment to generating new technology to serve the homeland defense market."

"We believe the potential for this segment of the powered air respirator market could reach as high as $25 million," stated Peter Cooper, Vice President of CAPA Group. "The product was designed with the help of first responders looking at the inadequacies of existing products. Tornado delivers 30% more air to the user than any competing product, maintains the same level of air supply as battery power diminishes, and has built in alarm systems for end of shift use."

NIOSH is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services.
