They account for eleven of the top seventeen (I chose fifteen as the benchmark, but there are apparently some ties), at least as of the most recent data I could find (1994). divorcereform.org I'd also mention that folks from Kentucky variously consider themselves "Midwestern," and not "Southern", while some Texas consider themselves "Southern." Inclusion of both would bring the total to some 70% being non-Southern. LPS5
