| It all comes down to the almighty dollar. $$$ Same reason were so disposed to getting involved in wars. Once the powers that be find a formula that works for creating wealth, they exploit it and perpetuate it. War is one of the most profitable business ever know to man, thus we have endless wars. Alcohol is also terribly profitable, alas alcohol permeates are society. Weed? Yeah, perhaps they could make some dough off of it. But, it would provide too much competition for established markets like alcohol, tabacco, paper, fibers, oils, etc. Not worth the cost/benefit to the big boys. Besides a stoner population wouldn't be so apt to join the army and fight in their endless wars, hurting their most profitable venture. It might also make people think some more, and kill the decades of propaganda and indoctrination that are paying huge divends now. Oh, marijuana really is the root of all evil if you're interested in squeezing every last bit of profit that you can out of the American people. It just doesn't go along with the program, so it is stigmitized and banned. |
