I like Drezner… I seldom read the blog, because the blog format doesn’t excite me, but I try to read what he publishes.
As you can tell, I "source" from over 100 blogs. They work as a filter for me, finding articles of interest. Some of them are excellent writers. And they duplicate what interests all of them, which gives me a good feedback.
They do a terrific job of fisking the media. They are causing a lot of tempers to rise in press rooms, and are disliked. Since the top ones are all reading each other, they get corrected almost instantly if they goof.
"Blogads" did a survey of readership, and got over 17,000 responses. The demographics are smart people with money, over 35, not kids, as many advertisers thought. Because of this, the advertising has picked up. "Instapundit" is now making over 4K a month, but even the best of the rest are at about 1K.
One of the best new ones, that I think you would enjoy, is Thomas Barnett's, author of The Pentagon's New Map. He is at thomaspmbarnett.com |
