Anyone understand what a chipset manufacturing excursion is?

I think this is referring to the manufacturing problem which Intel had a few weeks ago with the latest Grantsdale chipset. IMHO this was a black eye for Intel process engineers. Due to an out of control chip process, the chipsets had to be recalled, and the rollout of the next generation of chip technology has ben delayed.
