JF, Saddam was secular, bin Laden and al Qaeda are anything but. Oil and water (excuse the pun).

Guess we're full of puns these days. At the very least, it's reasonable to assume that Saddam and Al Qaeda cooperated or at least communicated because "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Second, you are not addressing the failure to get the majority of al Qaeda when they were concentrated in one place at one time.

That's the first time I've heard that accusation, that Bush supposedly didn't do enough when he took out the Taliban. I could probably think of many reasons off the top of my head why that accusation is unfair, but I'll let you elaborate your position for me first.

Doesn't it piss you off that the guy that did the Twin Towers is still doing terrorist attacks? All the time. Laughing at us. Doesn't it piss you off that we are cowering in our election period? That our delegates are afraid to go to their conventions? Why didn't we get this minor piss ant on the face of the earth? You explain it to me.

Wasn't it you who said such fears are irrational, that we're more likely to die in a car crash than in a terrorist attack? Wasn't it you who hinted that the best way to deny the terrorists a victory is to not give in to the fear?

Besides, we could find Osama tomorrow, and we'd still have the problem of Al Qaeda. And you can bet the pessimistic "know-it-alls" won't fail to remind us of their sobering "wisdom."
