Hitler, the ultimate conservative

Hitler in many ways has as much in common with socialists as he does with the right.

No, he does not. The only thing he had in common with Socialists was the name of his original party and that soon became the Nazi party after he became chancellor.

why the hell would Cantwell admire a dictator?

If Cantwell didn't actually express admiration for Castro she did lead a delegation to Castro and many members of that delegation where positive about Castro. Some of the other members of the list that I mentioned have said positive things about Castro or the regime in Cuba. I don't think that's enough to really consider Cantwell as Castro's biggest fan but she did get a bit chummy with him. If it makes you happy I've concluded there isn't enough evidence to say she is a supporter of, or friend of Castro, but she does give the wrong impression with her actions.

That's because you have a very rigid view on how people should behave. I happened to think that OBL is very bright, very committed to his goals and an able organizer.......I consider those to be admirable traits. That does not mean I admire him or support his goals. My view of things is not so black and white.

They scream bloody murder in an effort to separate themselves from the antics of Hitler. And then you turn around and do the same with the left.

That's the point. Republicans are and want to be separated from Hitler.

Of course they do. No one likes the dark side of themselves.

They have different opinions, different philosophies and different attitudes.

Maybe.......but the GOP has many similar traits.

Not all Democrats are or want to be considered separated or against Castro.

I have never heard a Democrat espouse the kind of gov't Cuba has. I'll need to see a link.

A few of them praise him.

In what way? I will have to see the context. There are some very good things that go on in Cuba.....fee state, higher education through a tv cable system; free pre and post natal health care. I am sure if I studied the system closely I would find more positive things to praise.

For the poor in Cuba, they probably are no worse off under Castro then they were under his predecessor, the right wing Batista........also a dicatator.

Its true that Castro hasn't done the kind of damage that Hitler did, but they are both brutal dictators. Also in the past the left in America did praise Lenin and even Stalin. Stalin probably caused more death and damage then Hitler (definitely more damage in peacetime but Hitler gets more of the blame for WWII then anyone else).

You still consider Stalin a left wing dictator....I don't.

In any case, I would hope no American is a proponent of totalitarian gov'ts......right or left.
