Ibexx: The point you make about stops is a good one. They're ok in a normal to slightly down market, but you can get hosed in a free fall. I had a 160 stop in on some INTC on the big down day in May and got filled at 148 before I could get to a phone and pull them off. My fault for carrying them too tight, but they were no protection at all, plus they caused a taxable event.
