Your opinion that it is a "minor issue". I have yet to see anyone, anywhere, produce a credible argument to suggest that anyone other than the voluntary participants would be affected adversely, or affected at all. A minor issue. I suppose one might ask why politicians are so eager to mine such a non-issue for all the emotion that they can drag out of it, but given today's political climate, that's too typical to bear any special note.
