Cosby Sticks to Humor at NAACP Convention

When Bill Cosby spoke at an NAACP gathering in May, he chastised some poor blacks for not living up to civil rights activists' dreams. As he prepared to speak last night, many folks wondered what he would say. However, Cos avoided controversy and asked the audience to remember soldiers in Iraq. His 105-minute comedy show recounted his childhood experiences and his married life, but not his recent controversial comments. We hope this was just a break from his campaign, and not capitulation to his critics.
