David, I really don't see room for price cuts anytime soon. Gross profit seems to have settled into about 42% which is alright but not ideal for all that they are spending on operating expenses. This quarter could take a turn though, as the P5000 will be a significant portion of revenue. I'd be happier if they see better margins soon. I still don't know how Encad can be so cheap and still see (!!!) 48% GPM. Piezo definitely is the future. I recently learned about it in one of my Physics classes. It is a finesse type of printing that can handle ink with great precision and efficiency and definitely the future of printing. I live in Michigan, and during the winter you need a hi tech climate control to keep a thermal inkjet in because a few degree change in temp can mess up the color consistency. Piezo eliminates this problem all together and is ver beneficial for long prints. I read an article recently about how everyone was waiting for the LFDP technology to plateau before they made their investment. I think piezo represents the plateau, and RGFX is set to take a good portion of the market. I just picked up the new FlexiSIGN-PRO 5.7v6 upgrade because they ran a $375 upgrade special and I RIPped some images to my Epson Stylus Color (Just a little desktop printer) and I'm hooked. Absolutely the most beautiful output that I've ever seen from my $200 printer! I'm looking at the new Roland CammJET Piezo Pinter/Cutter but waiting for the cost to come down. cammjet.com Markets are pretty crazy lately but RGFX has posted some pretty good gains in spite of it all.
