This is a pretty dead thread - not a word on the latest development at Ballard. Well, it probably deserves some comments.

Let's think outside the box for a minute. The deal to sell the drive train business back to Ford and Chrysler appears quite bone headed at first glance. That's certainly what all the analysts seem to think. For heaven's sake, why would Ballard give up the part of the business that would appear to have commercial prospects a lot sooner than the fuel cell portion? Well, what if Honda, for example, had approached Ballard about a friendly takeover. They might say, we want the fuel cell part of your business since we think we could do a great job commercializing it (they're fantastic at commercializing products). However, we don't want the electric drive train part since we already have expertise in that area that could clean Ford and Chrysler's clocks. So if you'll get rid of the drive train business, we'll buy your fuel cell business.

Whether anything like this has taken place is certainly outside the box. However, Ballard's unloading the drive train business does increase the chances of the company being put in play IMO. Comments?
