Told you this guy is a rising star:

Democrat Barack Obama to deliver convention keynote address
By Associated Press
Wednesday, July 14, 2004

A little-known U.S. Senate candidate from Illinois has been selected to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention.

Barack Obama, a law professor and state senator, will speak on July 27th, the second night of the convention.

In a statement, John Kerry [related, bio] called Obama ``an optimistic voice for America.''

Obama's father was a member of Kenya's Luo tribe, who later became a senior economist in Kenya's Ministry of Finance.

Obama graduated from Columbia University, earned his law degree at Harvard and was the first black president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review.
