Now ain't that the opposite of the truth. Republicans have been using state's right's to oppose civil rights legislation since the 60's. It's amazing how little principle actually means to you guys.

Gay marriage is an issue too important to consider state's rights but segregation was for the states to decide?

I really don't know. I'd guess it would stand, especially with this court. But ultimately you guys have lost. There's going to be gay marriage, it's just a matter of time. We believe in equality more than we believe in marriage as only between a man and a woman.

Here are the Republican Senators who opposed the President and voted to shut the debacle down: Campbell, Chaffee, Collins, McCain, Snowe, and Sununu.

You guys couldn't even get 50 votes, let alone the 60 needed to end debate or the 67 to pass the amendment.

What does that tell you about popular support for the President's position?
