I can understand why a Kerry supporter would not want the election to be about Kerry.

I don't know what your understanding is. But I sure do not trust it to be logical since you are brain washed by the Bush propaganda. But simply put, Bush has had 4 years to show his performance. So whatever we say about Bush is based on his performance as President. Kerry has not been a President and so what we say is pure conjecture. I presume that I can trust your understanding of a President and Senator to be different.
