SDE to build Taiwan wave-powered power station

The contract to build a two-Megawatt power station is worth $850,000.

SDE Energy and Desalination, owned by managing director Shmuel Ovadia, has signed a contract with the Taiwanese government to build a wave-powered power station. The contract to build a two-Megawatt power station is worth $850,000.
SDE claims it has used its own international patents to build eight models for producing electricity from ocean waves. It claims that a one-MW power station costs $300,000 to build, less than a third of the cost of other technologies. Ovadia claims that production costs are also much lower.

Ovadia says the first commercial model for using sea waves to produce electricity has been successfully operating at the Jaffa port.
