Not easy at all. As I said, you have to look at this in a broader context. For example, I remember watching Madeleine Albright, as Secretary of State in the Clinton Administration, defending sanctions, most particularly the oil embargo. The interviewer asked if it were worth it even if, as alleged, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children were dying over the years due to a combination of the embargo and Saddam's diversion of funds from the humanitarian sale of oil. Her answer was: "We think so". That is how dangerous the previous Administration deemed Saddam. We tried sanctions for a decade. We promoted internal dissent, but nothing came of it. Finally, the Bush Administration decided to move forward to the final policy option.
