I am a recent heckler on your raging bull board, due to a 3 year long conflict with a poster name bmagoo. I am sending this email to clarify points I have seen in your recent press releases. If I feel this is a real company I will be turned into a major buyer, however I will warn you, I understand the public market extremely well and have worked on Wall Street for a considerable number of years. Also, I will post what ever information you give me. If the information is real I will support your statements, if not I will critique them heavily.
I CAN ONLY TELL YOU THE TRUTH AS I KNOW IT.
My first question is regarding the recent announcement of applying to AMEX. I am aware to apply to an exchange you must first either meet the requirements of that exchange, or show a plan within a reasonable time frame to complete the task. Currently, GMED does not meet the AMEX requirements from what your 10k and 10q filings show. What are your plans and why did you apply to AMEX or put out a release if you did not meet those requirements?
WE PLAN TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS WITHIN THE 2-3 MONTH TIME FRAME TYPICALLY GIVEN BY THE AMEX.
Second, I continuously see press releases of accomplishments that are impossible to reach without the proper staffing. From what I have read there are maybe 3 or 4 people in your organization, yet you continue to post the press as if there are 100 people. How are you able to make such statements and if they are accurate how are you accomplishing them?
WE HAPPEN TO HAVE FOUND A MASTER DISEASE GENE, WHOSE OVERACTIVITY APPEARS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 3/4 OF DISEASES AMONG WHITES, AND PERHAPS 40% AMONG BLACKS. OVER THE PAST YEAR, IT HAS BECOME CLEAR THAT THE SAME GENE MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHY SOME PATIENTS DIE FROM VIRAL DISEASES.
SINCE SAFE DRUGS AGAINST THIS GENE ALREADY EXIST, WE DON'T HAVE TO INVENT THEM. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS USE THEM TO TREAT PATIENTS WITH THESE 150 OR SO DISEASES, AND RECORD HOW THEY DO. BECAUSE THE RESULTS WE'RE GETTING ARE SO DRAMATIC, EVEN CASE REPORTS ARE PUBLISHABLE. WE COULD NOT HAVE STRUCK IT RICHER.
Third, your press makes claims to have cures for the most recent topics of conversation in the media, i.e.: Chicken, west Nile virus etc... What is it your company is focusing on and what are you claims founded on?
AS I JUST EXPLAINED, WE BELIEVE WE'VE FOUND THE 'MASTER' DISEASE GENE. NEXT WEEK WE'RE PUBLISHING AN ARTICLE CALLED "THE CENTRAL ROLE OF ANGIOTENSIN I-CONVERTING ENZYME [ACE] IN VERTEBRATE PATHOPHYSIOLOGY" IN CURRENT TOPICS IN MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY. I WAS SURE BY FOLLOWING GENES I WOULD STAY FOCUSED ON CHRONIC DISEASES AND NEVER GET INVOLVED WITH ACUTE DISEASES, ESPECIALLY INFECTOUS DISEASES. BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT THE DATA SHOWED. PATIENT OUTCOMES ARE PROVING THAT THIS "MASTER" DISEASE GENE IS EVEN BIGGER THAN I THOUGHT.
THE WHOLE THING IS LIKE SEEING THE GRAND CANYON FOR THE FIRST TIME. YOU PARK, AND START WALKING UP TO A LOOKOUT POINT. AS YOU'RE WALKING UP, YOU THINK TO YOURSELF, "THIS IS NO BIG DEAL" BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING ABOVE YOU, WHERE YOU'RE USED TO LOOKING FOR AWE-INSPIRING VIEWS--YOU KNOW, SKYSCRAPERS, MOUNTAINS, BRIDGES, THAT SORT OF THING.
THEN YOU GET TO THE IRON RAILING, AND YOU LOOK DOWN, AND YOU'RE BLOWN AWAY. FIRST, YOU'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO BIG. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, YOU'VE NEVER LOOKED DOWN AND SEEN ANYTHING SO AWESOME BEFORE. THE WHOLE THING IS MIND-BLOWING AND TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO.
SAME WITH THE "MASTER" DISEASE GENE.
ALL I CAN SAY IS, ENJOY IT AS AN INVESTOR. BECAUSE AS A PHYSICIAN, I AM NOT GOING TO LET IT GO UNTIL I'VE MANAGED TO WREST AS MUCH GOOD OUT OF IT, PUBLIC-HEALTH WISE AND BUSINESS-WISE, AS I POSSIBLY CAN.
Forth, you left the VA Administration on questionable terms. What is the background and were you dismissed for cause or left on your own account?
THE OFFICIAL VERSION IS THAT I RESIGNED FROM THE VA. PEOPLE DO THIS ALL THE TIME, AND IT'S NOT VERY QUESTIONABLE.
THE TRUER VERSION IS THAT I WAS HARASSED OUT OF THE VA BECAUSE I REFUSED TO CHANGE THE WAY I HAD FIGURED OUT TO TREAT MY DIABETIC AND HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS. I KNEW, BEGINNING IN MARCH, 1994, THAT I COULD MAKE KIDNEY FAILURE REGRESS, SOMETHING ENTIRELY NEW IN THE MEDICAL LITERATURE. I DID THIS FOR TWO YEARS, AND GAVE TALKS ABOUT IT. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE THE BASIS FOR A FINE ACADEMIC CAREER.
THEN, IN A CURIOUS TWIST OF FATE, THE VA WENT MANAGED CARE IN 1996. THIS WAS DURING THE CLINTON YEARS; THE CLINTONS BELIEVED MANAGED CARE WAS THE SOLUTION TO THE HEALTH CARE CRISIS. AFTER TWO YEARS OF TREATING MY PATIENTS A CERTAIN WAY, MY BOSS AT THE VA INSISTED THAT I TREAT MY PATIENTS LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE, AND LIKE I HAD UNTIL 1994. MY BOSS REFUSED TO CONSIDER MY 1,000 PATIENTS' EXPERIENCE OVER THE PREVIOUS TWO YEARS, DISMISSING IT AS "ANECDOTAL."
FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS, I COULDN'T BRING MYSELF TO SCREW MY PATIENTS JUST TO KEEP MY JOB AT A PLACE WHICH NO LONGER VALUED TRYING TO IMPROVE PATIENT CARE. I ALSO THOUGHT A FEDERAL AGENCY SHOULD NOT GET IN THE HABIT OF KILLING ITS PATIENTS JUST TO SAVE MONEY. (I WAS TAKING CARE OF AN END-STAGE EMPHYSEMA PATIENT WHO THE VA DECIDED TO TAKE OFF THE MEDS I'D HAD HIM ON FOR 2 YEARS. I WAS CONVINCED HE WOULD DIE IF THEY DID. AFTER 7 YEARS THEY DID TAKE HIM OFF, AND HE DID DIE.)
OTHERWISE, I SAW NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE US AND GERMANY IN THE LATE 1920s AND EARLY 1930s, WHEN MANY GERMAN DOCTORS EAGERLY ADVOCATED KILLING THEIR PATIENTS IN ORDER TO SAVE THE STATE MONEY.

THERE'S NOTHING ABOUT MY REPLIES I CONSIDER CONFIDENTIAL. FOR TWO YEARS, FROM 1996-1998, I COULDN'T GET ANYBODY TO LISTEN TO WHAT THE VA WAS DOING TO MY PATIENTS. IT'S ALWAYS A TREAT TO FIND SOMEBODY INTERESTED.
