Seems that the UN inspectors did their job, WMDs have not been found. Now that is hindsight, of course, but your comment is telling: "...and make the US back down. Huge loss of face for the US, triumph for Saddam."

That means that thousands of Iraqis and hundreds of coalition forces had to be killed and 10s of thousands Iraqis and thousands of coalition forces had to be wounded to save the face of the US(in this case saving the face of Bush II and co. who are definitely not the US).

Shame on you.
