The public doesn't want it. The public will love universal socialized medicine when it arrives in the US before the decade ends (my estimate), just like it loves socialized medicine for seniors (aka Medicare.) And just like it loves it in all other industrialized countries, where once socialized medicine is established it becomes untouchable by both left and right.
