I don't blink twice at guns, maybe because I am around police officers and sheriffs so often, maybe because the kids have guns lying around all over the house. That probably sounds strange, but they like to target practice, and try to use the dining room table to clean their guns when I am not looking, instead of the table in the rec room.
This is off limits because I hate the smell of gun cleaning oil, and hate it worse when it is spilled on furniture and the carpet.
The guns are supposed to be kept out of the living room or the dining room or the foyer, but they don't listen. Kids!
The 16 year old can't wait to be old enough for a concealed carry permit. Yesterday he told me that he thinks he can wear a pistol in a holster and that's not concealed carry. I told him I thought he was wrong, too lazy to look it up, but even if it were not illegal, it's still going to attract attention and freak some people out. Now I see he was right. He's still not allowed to carry any of his pistols in a holster in public. The law may say yes, but mama says no.
It's also legal here to carry a gun in your hand as long as you don't brandish, but you're sure to get stopped and questioned, because that will really really freak people out. On the other hand, hiding your gun, which won't freak people out, is illegal. Go figure. -g- |
