I had no problem with the AP article you posted... it was accurate.

My only comment was when you wrote that the Senators didn't show up for the 'vote on the amendment'.

A technical inaccuracy: it was a cloture (motion to end debate) vote. NOT a vote to approve or disapprove the amendment.

As I've posted, head counts estimated that a vote on the amendment might have actually had 60 votes against it, if it had ever come up for vote.....
