If I understand the import of your post, then you are misreading the discourse I am having with Elmer. Personally, I feel that the CPU business is improving.

Our discussion centers on what the concern of the public and the press is over the inventory issue. I believe that the press believes it is lack of demand and from their viewpoint the are worried that the slump is back.

There are those that believe in the old golf expression, "better up than short"; and that the reason the Athlon processor was so successful in 99 was that Intel was capacity constrained.

Trust me on this one, that sure aint the case today. :))

This, of course would also explain intel's buying binge. It is my belief that Barrett sold the new plant expansion to the board with the promise that IF cpu demand did not warrant the expansion, the plants could be used for other purposes. Hence the so far unprofitable expansion into Comm and other areas.
