Lemme see if I have this straight. Having been to China working in the telecom field so far 16 times (including 7 times in Shanghai)...Shanghai has, what, 1.2 billion people?? Give or take?? As opposed to the maybe 1/100th of that number that I thought they had back a year or so ago?? God those Shanghainese multiply like rabbits, they do. I was aware of Samsung's announcement. Perhaps you have a URL which will divulge the details of this contract, including the committed dollar amount awarded by Shanghai PTAC to Samsung for CDMA. My understanding was that Shanghai has only been in the very earliest stages of studying PCS CDMA implementation and has not actually awarded anything in the way of a "real" implementation program to anyone, in terms of a major infrastructure contract to actually be implemented in the near term. I was under the impression that it was sort of "play money" at this point. A word to the wise John. The Korean industrial giants are "friends" of no one. They go where the money is, whenever they need to, as soon as they need to. They will drop PWAV as soon as a better alternative is available, as they would SPCT or anyone else.
