Brittain and french debt as % of GDP were much higher then the US Governments is today, and both powers were way overextended in a way we as Americans couldnt comprehend. Brittain occupied countries from Asia to the Americas, and justy spent on the most experncive war in History at that time. The great depression was more of a result of the reactionary policies that these economic times had caused. All these nation in concern of balancing their economic malaise begain protectionist measures.
