DJ, we are doing something about the size of Earth. We [meaning QUALCOMM] are developing fast wireless cyberspace, which will enable 3D vision and stereophonic sound to be propagated around the world from anywhere to anywhere.

It will be like taking our eyes and ears out of our heads and stretching our optic and aural nerves to anywhere we like, which will be almost like being there. Except that the smells, tastes and sense of hot air, or cool rain or snow or smog or whatever it is, won't be felt.

Maybe with a few more iterations of processing power, we'll be able to upload our consciousness to anywhere and just use somebody else's nerves as input for taste, touch, smells, sight and sound and so on. Just hook some transducers up to their nerves and repeat those same signals into our consciousness, which could be stored anywhere and everywhere simultaneously.

If you get "hit by a truck", copies of your consciousness, complete with memory, could be rebooted. It would be Groundhog Day!

PS: Note post on greenhouse effect [see upstream to the last post, but now, with this bonus copy of me, it's now two posts back - I put in an extra copy of this post just to see what it feels like to have multiple consciousness simultaneously. Hmmm, I could clone me. I wonder if I'd get into arguments with me. I wonder who would win.]
