<<We have a serious disparity in the way we regulate substances. Alcohol is clearly associated with social problems (crime, disease, accidents, domestic abuse and neglect, etc) that carry negative impacts to our culture and justice system at a very high rate, and expense.>>

ummmm, we regulate alcohol, marijuana is illegal.

<<There is a distinction between some people who use alcohol as a regulated substance and otherwise abstain from illegal activity vs marijuana users who are more likely to view any illegal substance or activity as subject to individual discernment.>>

lol are you trying to say that users of alcohol who do not use marijauna are less likely to use other types of illegal substances while marijauna users are more likely to use other illegal substances??

<<On the basis of risk associated with either substance on its own merit, I think the evidence shows alcohol to be a far more dangerous substance to the individual user and society. That includes addiction as well as events that are associated with use.>>

I think science would agree with you there jowl. Why is it that our society punishes marijuana users more harshly than alcohol users despite evidence that proves alcohol to be a more harmful drug than marijauna both physically and also its impact to society?
