Absolutely. The single most prevelant explanation for not using marijuana while being a heavy alcohol drinker is that marijuana is illegal. Marijuana users are not inhibited from use on the basis of illegality so it stands to reason that they would be and are more likely to use other illegal substances.

The quick answer is that one is illegal and the other is not. If we look past that then it is the same reason that most people on this thread are patriotic to one political perspective over another often times without good reason. Simply, that is the way we were socialized to view things. It isn't reasonable that alcohol would get such a pass and marijuanna would get so demonized on the basis of the impacts each has on individuals and society. Yet that is our culture, that is the way we were socialized, so we are going to fight to keep the status quo.

It gets way complicated since left wingers are more likely to be marijuanna users on the basis of nothing except inculturation. Right wingers are more likely to be alcohol users that do not use marijuanna. No basis for that either except socialization.

So are you a pepsi man or a coke man?
I use neither.
