Wow...you've lost it big time. I never said we live in a dictatorship. I simply mentioned Bush's words stating that dictatorship would be easier. I disagree with the President on that account. A dictatorship is not easier at all. It's bloody hard work to be a dictator.

In a democracy we need to be ever vigilant to be sure that rights are not eroded. We want to make sure that no one can be jailed and held with out charges and without access to legal council.

The Sedition act would not meet constitutional scrutiny. Just as portions of the Patriot act fail constitutional scrutiny.

Policy debate is needed in a democracy. When you shut down opposing views and threaten jail for it, then you have effectively eliminated democracy and free speech. That's probably just what you want.

As Ben Franklin once said, he who gives up his civil liberties in exchange for security deserves neither.
