The Republican mantra is that more money attracts better talent in everything except government. In government, the less you pay, the more you get.


As ridiculous as that sounds, I think you're right. One of the teachers in whose classroom I spent time has taught for 15 years. She taught English to Japanese aborigines for 2 of those years. She is incredibly talented. I bet her annual salary is roughly $70k (the starting salary is somewhere between $40-50k) in a city where the median price of a house is $295K.

And people think they have a right to complain about the quality of our teachers. AS IF, the left has hijacked our schools. lol
