I have an ongoing debate with a couple Christian friends
it centers on TRUTH, which is central to their faith
I urge them not just to pray for the truth
but to seek it out themselves
they talk about TRUTH, but seem not to seek it
they trust the truth is being told, but do not investigate
war-supporting Christians make me sometimes ashamed to claim that I am a Christian
and that upsets me very very very much
ONLY REGARDING THE WAR AND THEIR PRESIDENT, THEY REMIND ME OF A GANG OF INSECURE HUDDLED IGNORAMUSES, WHO READ THE BIBLE FOR TRUTH, AND IGNORE SOLID SCATTERED EVIDENCE ALL AROUND THEM, AS THEY CANNOT SEE PAST THE BOOK ITSELF, EVEN AS INNOCENTS ARE KILLED BY OUR SOLDIERS, AND THEY LOOK THE OTHER WAY AFTER PREACHING ABOUT PRESERVATION OF LIFE
what they overlook is that the challenge of evangelizing and conversion is made horribly difficult when we are killing so many of their young men, women, and children
without remorse
they venture rarely off their safe paths of information sources
if only they could realize that God provides info sources from many continents
all dissent does not come from the devil
if only they could see the horrible damage to our national allies
if only they could admit that the USA is just as responsible for Saddam's rise and terror as France, Germany, and Russia
they cannot
Christians and Bushy supporters harbor almost as much hatred and distrust toward outsiders and foreigners as the Hitler Germany did
but they dont realize it
numerous lies have been proved with Bushy and his gang
it seems to me that Christians rally around the mission to preach, evangelize, spread the gospel, and convert Moslems
but will trample on the truth to do so
but will overlook the killed civilians in the process
I come from their camp, but bristle at their argumentative style
I belief Pat Robertson and the 700-Club are full of clowns
they occasionally provide good scholarly references to Israel, Palestine, and neighboring nations
they are one-dimensional
I have watched them from time to time
but they conveniently either overlook or dismiss the legality, proprietary, or inhumanity of killing civilians
we have become a push-button warrior nation
my Pakistani buddy tells me the death count among Iraqi civilians is over 10,000
which is more than 3 times the World Trade Center count
US Forces killed numerous at a May wedding
it is VERY QUESTIONABLE that any or most were insurgents
perhaps some in attendance were
but we killed over 20 civilians, many women & children
I cannot understand the callous nature of my Christian friends
I cannot understand their blind walk, step by step, in shredding the Bill of Rights
I cannot understand their constant alibi for an Administration that has built a war plan on deliberate lies
but most of all, I am enraged by a personal debate and agreement made with a strong Christian friend of mine in Ohio
in November, we debated the justification of the Iraqi War
I made my argument about oil, military bases, petro-dollar
he made his about WMD and was adamant that we would find them
I agreed with him after an hour of debate
IF IT BECOMES WIDELY ACCEPTED THAT W.M.D. WERE NOT FOUND, HE WOULD RETREAT AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE WAR WAS A FRAUD
we made that agreement, but I went further, to which we agreed
I PREDICTED HE WOULD FIND A NEW JUSTIFICATION FOR THE WAR
IT WOULD NOT INCLUDE W.M.D. SINCE THEY WOULD NOT BE FOUND
AND IF HE SHIFTED JUSTIFICATION, THAT I HAD THE RIGHT TO DISRESPECT HIM
he agreed, which was surprising to me
in May we had a heated argument
he justified the war on new grounds
Saddam was a monster who killed his people
Iraqi people are now free to pursue their lives & democracy
I had predicted to him that he would relie on the monster basis
he repeatedly said NO NO NO
he did just that, and I have now lost some respect for him
he is a good man, and always a friend
but he has no idea how Fascism takes root
he does understand the balance of power, checks & balances among the Executive, Judiciary, Legislative branches
and how it must be preserved to prevent Fascism
he has no idea of his slippery basis of truth
he has little pursuit of truth
he used the same disgusting disrespectful and dictatorial bullshit arguments as Wstera
unlike Wstera, he is capable of learning
he no longer uses those argumentative tactics
since we had an hour-long talk about their ugly nature
he agreed on their low tactics and shameful ways
we had a good laugh when I said jokingly in a Friday phone call
"yeah yeah yeah, they dont agree with you, so they must all be puppets of the liberal media & press, without the benefit of any capability to think for themselves... yeah yeah yeah"
we laughed together as friends
he openly admits now there are no W.M.D.
or at least, so little, that they must be remnants from their Iran War in the 1980's
(which by the way, we assisted Saddam with)
when I cite Scripture to him in defense, it stops him cold
they dont get it
they have dangerously mixed Religion and Politics
