Qatar joins the motor racing party
Qatar is the latest country in the Middle East to open its own international motorsports venue. The Losail International Circuit of Qatar will host a round of the MotoGP series later this year. The track was officially opened with a lap by Randy Mamola on a Ducati. The 3.3-mile circuit, which is located close to the city of Doha, has cost the local government around $75m and was formally opened by Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani.
